Capturing photos and videos
First things first: we suggest pairing your Spectacles before trying to record anything with them.
Once that’s all squared away, you’re ready to capture your world with 3D photos and videos (also known as “Snaps”). Watch this video to learn how:
3D Photos
To capture a 3D photo, just press and hold either button for 2 seconds. You should see a white LED flash inside the frame when it does! Spectacles can store up to 1,200 3D photos at a time.
Although only one LED indicates a photo was taken, Spectacles 3 utilize both of their cameras to take a photo. Spectacles’ camera has a wide angle lens, so be sure to get close to capture your subject matter. Different textures and patterns react differently to 3D — so be sure to experiment to discover what looks best to you!
3D Videos
To capture a 3D video, simply press either button on your Spectacles 3 to start recording a 10-second video. Press either button again to keep recording for 10 more seconds.
Long Snap: You can press up to 6 times to record for a total of 60 seconds! Keep in mind that these will import as one singular video. To stop recording, just press and hold the button for about 2 seconds. Once you’ve imported your video, you can trim or apply any edits from our creative tools.
When Spectacles 3 are recording, the LEDs inside and outside the frame will light up. When the recording’s about to end, the inner LED will flash twice.
Spectacles 3 can capture and sync up to 70 videos on a single charge and can store up to 100 3D videos at a time.
Trim: iOS users, you’ll be able to trim each Spectacles 3 video as you’d like in Memories. You’ll also be given the option to save your newly trimmed video as a copy, so you won’t lose your original. To learn more about Snap Trim, head here.
By default, photos captured on Spectacles 3 will import in 2D. To enable 3D, tap the button at the bottom. To view your 3D photos and videos — and to continue capturing more Snaps after your Spectacles storage is full — you’ll need to import them to Snapchat.
