Device Compatibility

Many contemporary phones are compatible with Spectacles – but not all of them. Make sure yours meets the minimum device requirements for Spectacles.

Spectacles are compatible with: 

• iOS: iPhone running iOS 16 or above
• Android: Android 12 or above

You should also be using the latest version of the Spectacles app (iOS, Android) and Snapchat (iOS, Android).

Lens Studio Compatibility

Lens Studio is updated more frequently than Spectacles, and getting on the latest version can cause issues pushing to Spectacles. We'll explicitly mention the current supported version of Lens Studio with every release note, so please check before updating. 

Note that not all features in Lens Studio are compatible with Spectacles, for the latest list please see our developer docs here.

Checking Compatibility

You can now verify compatibility between Spectacles and Lens Studio. To determine the minimum supported Snap OS version for a specific Lens Studio version, navigate to the About menu in Lens Studio (Lens Studio → About Lens Studio).

Pushing Lenses to Outdated Spectacles

When attempting to push a Lens to Spectacles running an outdated Snap OS version, you will be prompted to update your Spectacles to improve your development experience.
