September 2026 Snap OS Update - CRITICAL SECURITY CERTIFICATE UPDATE + Stability, Thermal & Multiplayer Fixes

***FAILING TO UPDATE TO 064.0470 BY OCTOBER 15  RISKS LOSS OF USAGE AND SUPPORT FOR SPECTACLES 24*** 

This maintenance update prepares your device for an upcoming security certificate change and improves thermal performance, multiplayer hand tracking, and overall stability. To ensure uninterrupted use of your Spectacles 24, please complete this update immediately. 

Please note: new guidelines for Lens submission and Lens Explorer publication will be announced soon in alignment with the upcoming SPECS 27 hardware release

Feature Improvements & Fixes

*PLEASE READ* Security & Connectivity

  • We have added new DigiCert G5 root certificates to the device. Certificate authorities are rotating these roots on October 15, 2026; updating ensures your Spectacles keep connecting securely to Snap services, software updates, and connected experiences without interruption.

Performance & Thermal

  • Devices now cool down properly when idle or asleep instead of staying warm, improving comfort and extending how long you can play and create between charges.
  • Additional heat-management fixes make longer tracking sessions more stable.

Connected Lenses & Multiplayer

  • Fixed an issue where hand tracking could stop working when a second person joined a shared session, so co-located and multiplayer Lenses stay reliable as more people join.
  • Improved shared spatial mapping for more dependable colocated Lenses.

Stability

  • Fixed a rare crash in the device's messaging layer.
  • General reliability improvements across tracking and connected sessions.

Fleet Management

  • Fleet operators can now enable automatic device-log capture around a crash, making issues easier to diagnose across managed devices.

Versions

Please update to the latest version of Snap OS and the Spectacles App. Please confirm that you're on the latest versions:

  • OS Version: 064.0470
  • Spectacles App iOS: 0.64.14.0 (not a new release)
  • Spectacles App Android: 0.64.15.0 (not a new release)
  • Lens Studio: v5.15.4

⚠️ Known Issues

  • Video Calling: Currently not available.
  • Hand Tracking: You may experience increased jitter when scrolling vertically.
  • Capture Audio: Audio on some captures can sound distorted.
  • Voice Input: Voice input (ASR and microphone) may not work in some Lenses.
  • Gallery: Some captures may show a black screen, and a capture sent in a Snap may play only partially.
  • Browser: No capture available while in Browser, including errors when capturing WebXR content in Immersive Mode.
  • Custom Locations Scanning Lens: Occasional crash when using the Custom Locations Lens. Relaunch the Lens or restart to resolve.
  • Fetch: A pushed Lens may fail to launch the first time it is pushed to Spectacles from Lens Studio.
