Reliving a moment with the included 3D Viewer
With Spectacles 3, you can step back into a memory — and re-experience it using the included 3D Viewer. To learn how to use the 3D Viewer, watch the video below:

Here’s how to use the 3D Viewer:
- Open Snapchat and swipe up to Memories.
- Tap on the 'Snaps' tab and find a moment you’d like to step into.
- Tap on the Snap to view it in fullscreen.
- Press and hold the Snap and then tap ‘View in VR’.
- Insert your phone into the 3D viewer, matching the line on your phone’s screen to the line on the 3D Viewer.
- Close the viewer, and hold them up to take a deeper look.
Press the button on the 3D Viewer to skip to the next 3D photo or video (also known as “Snaps”). Press and hold it to rewind, and skip to previous Snaps. Just let go when you find the right one!
You’ll be able to view all the Snaps captured with your Spectacles 3 until you exit. To exit this view, remove your phone from the 3D Viewer and press the < button on the upper-left corner.
Here’s how to view 3D Effects in your 3D Viewer
To view a Snap with 3D Effects through your 3D Viewer, you’ll need to save a copy of it first. Here’s how:
- Go to the ‘Snaps’ tab in Memories.
- Press and hold a Snap.
- Tap ‘Edit’.
- Swipe to select a 3D Effect.
- When it looks good, tap ‘< Done’ in the upper-left corner
- Choose ‘Save as Copy’.
- Your new Snap will now be available to view in your 3D Viewer and other VR devices. (You can learn more about those below!)
YouTube VR180
You can export your favorite moments in YouTube’s VR180 format to experience them on any device that’s compatible with YouTube VR — such as your included 3D Viewer, Google Cardboard, Oculus, Vive, and more!
Before you export, make sure you have the YouTube app downloaded, and that you’re signed in to your YouTube account. Once you’re all set up, follow the instructions below:
Here’s how to export a single Snap:
- Go to the ‘Snaps’ tab in Memories.
- Press and hold a Snap.
- Tap ‘Export Snap’.
- Swipe to ‘YouTube VR180’ and tap ‘Upload to YouTube’.
- Follow the instructions on screen!
Here’s how to export multiple Snaps:
- Go to the ‘Snaps’ tab in Memories.
- Tap in the upper-right corner (or press and hold on a Snap) to enter ‘Selection Mode’.
- Tap at the bottom of the screen.
- Swipe to ‘YouTube VR180’ and tap ‘Upload to YouTube’.
- Follow the instructions on screen!
You will leave Snapchat and continue to the YouTube app to upload your Snap(s). Keep in mind that after uploading, your Snaps will be subject to YouTube’s terms, conditions, and policies.

Here’s how to view 3D Effects in YouTube VR180
To view a Snap with 3D Effects through your VR headset, you’ll need to save a copy of it first. Here’s how:
- Go to the ‘Snaps’ tab in Memories.
- Press and hold a Snap.
- Tap ‘Edit’.
- Swipe to select a 3D Effect.
- When it looks good, tap ‘< Done’ in the upper-left corner
- Choose ‘Save as Copy’.
Your new Snap will now be available to upload to YouTube in VR180 format. You can learn how to do that above!
