Camera & Microphone Privacy
When you pair your Spectacles device with your Spectacles App, access to the camera and microphone on your Spectacles device is required for the device to operate, which may be considered biometric identifiers under the laws of certain countries or states, such as Illinois or Texas. For instance, the camera uses information about face, hands and your surroundings so you can interact with AR content and the microphone uses information about your voice to make features like recorded videos and voice commands work. Certain information — like the position of your hand and hand gestures — may be shared with a Lens developer in order for the Lens experience to function.
You can remove the Spectacles App’s access to the camera and microphone on your Spectacles device by stopping use of your Spectacles device, or you can delete your account.
If you choose to delete your account, the face, hands, and voice information associated with your account will be deleted. Otherwise, the face, hands, and voice data used to power these features is deleted within 3 years of your last use of Snapchat.
Please see our Spectacles Supplemental Privacy Policy to learn more about our privacy practices and products.
