Experimental Features on the New Spectacles

In May, we released our new Spectacles as a development tool for creators looking to push the boundaries of AR. While our initial release provided a solid foundation for you to build AR experiences using Lens Studio - there are exciting capabilities we want to get in your hands.

In line with our approach to build with the AR community, we are introducing experimental features - capabilities designed to help us better understand what you want. We will also release sample Lenses to inspire you to build on top of those features. You are encouraged to download the Lens projects and use them to build and evolve your own creations.

Experimental features will evolve quickly with our understanding and thus have the following limitations:

  • they may be modified, or deprecated without notice, and

  • Lenses built on top of some experimental features may not be publishable.

To enable experimental features, you will have to go to the Spectacles settings tab and enable them. Some experimental features will be off by default.

 

Connected Lenses on Spectacles - Experimental

With this alpha experimental release, you can now turn your Connected Lenses into a shared experience with others on Spectacles in the same space.

To inspire you, we have also built SoundShare - a multiplayer colocated music creation experience where each player can add or remove a musical note to a shared music player.

 

+ Bug Fixes & Improvements

As expected, we have fixed bugs and introduced improvements to performance, connectivity, and recording quality.
