Setting up and Pairing your Next Generation Spectacles
We strongly suggest you pair your new Spectacles with your phone first thing - before you start capturing Snaps
There are two ways to turn your new Spectacles on:
- Press and hold both buttons for 5 seconds and release
or
- Put on the glasses and it should automatically boot.
Once your device is booting up, you should see a blue inward LED, followed by the Snapchat logo.

Pairing the device to your phone - first time
Before you pair your new Spectacles, be sure to:
- Verify that you’re using a compatible phone and OS
- Ensure you have the latest version of Snapchat
- Log into your Snapchat account (or sign up if you haven’t got an account yet!)
- Turn your phone’s bluetooth on
Once you’ve got through that list, while your device is on, open Snapchat.
- Tap the profile button in the upper-left corner
- Tap the ⚙ button in the upper-right corner then tap ‘Spectacles’
- Press and hold either button on your new Spectacles for 7 seconds. The blink LED will flash yellow to confirm it is connecting
- Connect your Snapchat account by tapping the “Ok” prompt - by completing this step you are agreeing to the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, User Agreement, and Safety Warnings
- Verify the Bluetooth Pairing Request by confirming the code shown on your Spectacles
- Connect to your home Wi-Fi network
- Choose between enabling or disabling location data on your Spectacles (this let’s you add some context to your Snaps - like the temperature outside, your speed, or other location-based info from where your Snaps were taken)
- It’s possible you’ll be asked to complete a software update at this point, if so you’ll need to complete this step before using your Spectacles
When that’s all squared away you’ll have a ‘Pairing Complete’ confirmation message and you’re all set to start exploring your new Spectacles.

Note: you can pair multiple devices to a single phone - but only one pair of Spectacles can be active at a time. Only the active pair of Spectacles will be able to import Snaps to your Snapchat account, or collect location data while capturing Snaps. Pairing an additional pair of Spectacles to your account will disconnect any previously paired Spectacles.
Need to switch between Spectacles?
- Open Snapchat, swipe up to Memories
- Tap the Spectacles icon in the upper-right corner
- Tap ‘CONNECT’ on the name of the Spectacles you’d like to connect to.
Re-pairing Spectacles
If for some reason your next generation Spectacles have become unpaired, you can re-pair them with the following steps:
- Open Snapchat and tap the profile button in the upper-left corner
- Tap the ⚙ button in the upper-right corner then tap ‘Spectacles’
- Select your Spectacles from the available options
If you have ‘forgotten’ your new Spectacles, then please follow the first time pairing flow to re-pair.
If you’re having trouble pairing
If you’re unable to pair or re-pair your new Spectacles to your Snapchat account, keep in mind:
- The next generation Spectacles need to have at least 10% battery life to pair
- Your phone’s Bluetooth must be turned on
- Your phone must be in close proximity to your new Spectacles
Still not pairing?
The next generation Spectacles require the latest version of Snapchat for iOS. Visit the App Store to make sure you’re up to date.
If your Snapchat app is already up to date, try turning Bluetooth off, and powering off your phone. Wait 1 minute, then power your phone back on. When your phone has powered on again, turn Bluetooth on as well. Then, follow the steps in the ‘Pairing the device to your phone - first time’ section above.
