Water Resistance

You don’t need to have your phone with you to use Spectacles, so they can go just about anywhere you can. However, we recommend keeping them out of the extreme heat and the extreme cold.

Are my Spectacles waterproof?

Spectacles 2 (Nico, Veronica, Original) are water resistant and work great in rain, snow, and even in shallow water!  

To make sure you’re taking the best care of your Spectacles, follow the guidelines in the FAQ below.

Don’t forget: accessories such as the Charging Cable, Charging Case for Spectacles 2 (Original), and the Carrying Case for Spectacles 2 (Nico, Veronica) are not water resistant, so please try to keep them dry. Remember to dry your Spectacles with the included cleaning cloth before charging them!

Keep in mind that First-Generation Spectacles are not water resistant, and should not be exposed to rain or snow, or submerged in water.

Can I use my Spectacles underwater?

You can use Spectacles 2 (Nico, Veronica, Original) under shallow water! Just don’t keep them submerged for more than a few Snaps at a time.

To avoid an accident or injury, don’t use Spectacles while doing anything that could risk sudden impact or submersion — like diving, surfing, jet skiing, etc. Basically, don’t wear them when doing any activity where you wouldn’t wear sunglasses anyway!

When you get out of the water or inside from the rain, make sure to dry them off thoroughly and remove any debris from the charging ports before charging or using them again. If your Spectacles have been exposed to anything other than fresh water, gently rinse them with fresh water and dry them with the included cleaning cloth.

Are my Spectacles weather resistant? Can I wear them in the rain or snow? 

Spectacles 2 (Nico, Veronica, Original) are water resistant, and can work great in the rain and snow. The electronic components inside Spectacles are still temperature sensitive in extreme conditions, so don’t get them too hot or cold.

Are my Spectacles sweat-resistant? Can I wear them while working out?

Spectacles 2 (Nico, Veronica, Original) can withstand sweat, so they’re perfect for capturing a morning jog or a game of one-on-one basketball. To avoid an accident or injury, don’t use them during high-impact or high velocity sports.

My Spectacles aren’t working right after getting wet. What should I do?

Spectacles 2 (Nico, Veronica, Original) should keep working great after being exposed to water in the ways outlined in this FAQ. After Spectacles get wet, be sure to dry them thoroughly and remove all debris from the charging ports before you charge them or use them again!
